The Soul Seekers with Ellen Podcast

Resource page

The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.

Welcome to the souls seekers podcast, with me your host, Ellen Shilling. This podcast will explore ways to bring more meaning, connection, purpose and joy. We will have chats about menopause, grief, trauma, pilates, self care and more but most of all it’s just me having chats with people I really really admire.

I believe that everyone has a story to tell and in that story there lies wisdom and inspiration for us all, so as you listen to a speaker talk about their struggles or how they got themselves out of a situation this might reflect your own and you might be motivated to make the changes that you need to make. Or you might just have a giggle with us as we chat about our experiences.

Either way I hope that this podcast brings you a feeling of connection, an understanding of yourself and a few laughs along the way.

Our chat in the big blue chair was so inspiring that I found it hard to cut anything out and so I didn’t! Some of the highlights are:

  • Journey from Law to Wellness via a pack of her granny’s tarot cards.
  • Why not to go to a tarot card reader
  • No “one size fits all” when it comes to wellness and healing
  • Perceptions of who we are as “healers”
  • Dispelling the myths – I have a spiritual life = I have a happy life,
  • How to find your intuition – and you know where it is.
  • Looking for answers “outside of myself”
  • Losing her Dad as she was going through IVF and during COVID
  • How to read the signs from the universe.
  • Her journey to conceive – and it’s not what you think!
  • “I had to turn into a b1tch to be heard”: loosing her voice during IVF.
  • Getting a positive COVID test and negative pregnancy test on the same day
  • The peace she found during the 4 weeks as she was miscarrying.
  • We talk about relationships, manifesting a partner or anything you want into your life.
  • To surrender does not mean you have to give it up, how wanting something so much might keep you stuck.
  • Sometimes your intuition leads you away from the thing that you wish for only to bring you back again

Season 1: Episode 3 -Mindfulness

This is a short mindfulness practice for you to use to rest after a busy day, let go of stress and drift into a peaceful evening.

Season 1: Episode 4 & 5 -sharon Lawless

Part A – Adoption stories and how she moved from managing nite clubs to producing documentaries

Imagine this: you are 19 years old and you become pregnant. You’re sent to a private nursing home to have your baby and one day after giving birth you see a couple arriving, something about them makes you suspicious. Shortly after you are told that you have one night with your baby boy after which you re forced to give him up for adoption. You spend the next 50 years looking for him.

This is Tressa’s story, listen to find out what happens. Sharon Lawless of Flawless Films shares her story of how she came to make Adoption Stories , the people she met and the shocking legislation that stopped people from finding their families.

Part B – Death & Dying

During this chat we talk about a very popular subject 🙂 Some of the topics we cover:

  • The worst thing to say to someone who is grieving
  • What she learnt from death
  • The people she interviewed in the Hospice
  • How to support someone who is grieving
Plus whats next for her – A 1950’s Irish icon – rally driver, model and dress designer, oh and yes she was a woman!

Sharon Lawless of Flawless Films – producer of Adoption Stories, The Killing of Father Niall Molloy and Inside the Hospice.

And thank you Linda McGann for the wonderful music

Season 1: Episode 6 -Dani Sheil

“Letting go is a huge part, because I think we’ve all taken on so much. And every time we have a little bit of a gap in the schedule,  you think –  I’ll just make a phone call, or just, send an email or I just send a text or whatever it is,. Next time – Why don’t I just sit in the garden and look at my flowers instead.”

I think if you can do something to pull yourself away from your mind and into your body, it’s a good start.

What if everything you have right now was already enough?

We’re all different and if you can hone in and find your authentic itself, then you can reach the people who resonate with you
